Our Services

Following legislative changes in 2023 to Wales General Ophthalmic Services (WGOS) we are proud to be able to offer the full five levels of service to our patients, from a routine eye examination (for those that qualify) through to acute emergency eye care services.

We also offer private examinations and services, some of which are listed below.

WGOS 1-Eye exam

Full eye examination.

WGOS2 Extended Eye Examination

Examination for urgent eye problems.

WGOS3-Low Vision

The Low Vision Service in Wales can provide specialist visual aids, magnifiers, lamps and advice, free of charge, to those who struggle to see clearly when using prescribed glasses or contact lenses.

Our qualified Low vision optician can provide this service.

WGOS4

Referral refinement of certain eye conditions.

WGOS5-Acute Eye care

Independant prescribing optometry services (IPOS) are provided by both of our qualified Optometrists, which means they can prescribe medications for certain eye conditions.

OCT

Traditional examination to the back of the eye involved looking for signs of change on the surface, but now with our OCT we can see through the surface and examine all the layers of the retina. Being able to identify and monitor abnormality within these layers is essential for early detection of some of the major causes of visual impairment.

Dry Eye Services

Dedicated specialist run dry eye clinics are planned to commence in the near future.

Myopia Management

More children are developing myopia at a younger age, the younger a child developes myopia, the further it evolves and the higher it becomes. Trying to slow down how quickly myopia gets worse is called myopia management.
